Tarantulas are not uncommon as pets, they are fuzzy and do not sting. Even African hissing cockroaches at 3-4 inches long can be kept as pets, but a scorpion? They would be hard to snuggle and handle!
Logical name! My brother had one when we were kids, it escaped often and he would tell me right before we went to sleep laughing his head off. He fed Sid the spider frogs from the garden (took days to digest) and wasps. Sid lived for about 6 years.
I had Mr Spidey for about 4 years if memory serves me. I bought him crickets from the pet store though I was told he would also eat small fish like minnows. I caught a few from a local creek it seems Mr Spidey did eat them but then I felt bad for the minnows being that I was the one catching them to lead them to their doom. The crickets didn't bother me especially as I had the pet store attendant pick them out. It was the same with the snake: around the same time I had a Ball Python named Sid (weird!). Sid got fed mice who I always felt terrible for so I never picked them out at the pet shop. One time though Sid wouldn't eat this little white mouse. I waited two days (usually he devoured in 15 minutes or less) the mouse was still in there. I went to the pet store, bought another mouse, and Sid devoured it immediately. I plucked the little white mouse out of there then, figuring it had earned its freedom. That "mouse" grew into a huge white rat! I named him Whitey he was very very domesticated. I gave him baths and he slept near my pillow. Okay I'm starting to realize that I was a strange child... ;-)
I don't like mice, spiders, scorpions, I especially don't like snakes, put up with caged birds, well you get it. I like dogs, a lot. Once had 6 cats after a roommate moved out, found a nice lady preacher to take them. They had never been outside. Imagine that.
I'm sticking to dogs.
You were a strange child, Amy. But it is OK. Somebody has to like them
After five Scorpios in a row (fatal attraction I suppose) I've had my fill. Regardig this scoprion though, I kindly released it next door near the haunted cathouse. The scorpion was defensive but pretty copacetic about this for a scorpion. May he have a good life...
LOL as a side note they do offer fried scorpions along with all zee bugs (spiders, mealworms, crickets, waterbugs, bee and ant larvae) in certain places in Thailand. I did eat scorpion once very drunk on my first night in Bangkok. Bleah! I'll pass on the breeding farm...
LOL, at least it was probably cod! I've told the German monk that I have "probaby" eaten dog. Why I say that is not because I would have ordered it up anywhere, but rather because my first husband Oh, on coming to the north of Thailand near the border with Laos, handed me some fried thing which he assured me was pork satay. I had a few bites of this burnt to a crisp very hard to chew stuff, told him it was the worst pork satay I had ever had, at which point he giggled maniacally and told me "It's dog!". Very funny ha ha. If it was dog then, much like scorpion, it was terrible. I would not recommend...

LOL the ball python was named Sid...
Ha it must be the go-to name for the child mind when becoming the proud owner of a reptile or an arachnid.
That's cute! How long did he live?

But scorpions!
My favorite Scorpions song is "In Trance."
Maybe you've heard it.
I was a really strange child too so I can totally relate. The story of Whitey is terrific!
I had a girlfriend that didn't do much but lay around and bare her teeth once in while .
Fed her to my pet cougar .
LOL!
Yes former NYer now in AZ..I catch and release them Tupperware on top, slide a thin but firm sheet of cardboard under and carefully pick him up.🦂🦂🦂🦂
Not a good pet. Better to crush it before it makes babies.
I have a sister who is a "Scorpion" (astrological sign) and they DO sting. Oh, and their sting lasts a LONG time.

Not a constant threat. One neighbor had a huge
Spider and snake. I used to catch everything as a kid but let ‘em go. Mess with a Scorpio, well you
Ought to know.
What do scorpions eat? Smaller bugs I guess.
