Conspiracy theory versus "Conspiracy Theory" Perhaps the most daunting thing in a post truth world is sorting out what Conspiracy theories are true. Being an open-minded person who regularly visits websites that are blacklisted from Google for "misinformation" I've read dozens, maybe hundreds of alternative explanations of events. I've read that the moon landing was fake (still on the fence on that one), all viruses are fake (also on the fence on that one), the JFK assasination was an inside job (probably: but by whom and for what purpose?), 9/11 was an inside job (ditto), the Halocaust was fake (I might accept a quibble on death numbers, but I'm not buying that Auschwitz and the like were some sort of summer camp) and that Jews rule the world (too broad brush for me). I've read that any number of celebrity deaths were actually foul play because that person was about to unleash some groundbreaking documentary that would blow the lid off the Satanic elite. Most of these I don't independently research. I listen to everything and believe none of it, as my father used to say.
Loved this piece. :) I've changed my mind about many things in life. And I do believe some "conspiracy theories." There are precious few free thinkers who are willing to examine what they believe. Then there are, as you mention, the people who call themselves free thinkers who uncritically accept whatever crazy idea comes their way without really analyzing it.

I'm still flat earth agnostic but enjoyed doing the research circa 2015 and learned that ships disappear INTO the horizon and not OVER the horizon. It seems odd and unsatisfying but really your eye cannot resolve objects at those distances as seen in the link.
Ultimately, this controversy is really tied to whether NASA made it to the moon. If we compare this to the Wright brothers flying in 1903 and then 50 years later, millions of people had flown at altitudes much much higher than the Wright brothers. Thus, we have no controversy related to airplane flight because mass commercialization has powered people to those altitudes.
However, 50 years after Apollo 11, we haven't had humans back to the moon and can only do human 'space' flights of 240 miles altitude which is one tenth of one percent of the distance to the moon! Ouch, that sounds like we are regressing. That's not a technology curve we would expect.
It's time for NASA and SpaceX to put up millions of people into REAL space or shut up. It's the confirmation from mass commercialization that we need.
So this is an amazing piece, and I'm not gonna lie, I am totally intimidated by you and your 170 IQ now.
I think you touched on some big themes that I just don't have the chops to dive into on my mini-conspiracy theory piece. I'll tread into this part which I think I can get a foothold in:
"People have a remarkable tendency to take logical shortcuts in thinking."
We do have to use short cuts. We can't each and every one of us begin anew, and become expert on how engines work, on how electricity works, on how nanoparticles work to bring it back to the jabs, and on and on.
I think one of the things that became clear to me as I grilled a physician and scientist on another Substack (this was back in the summer of 21, before I was writing one) was that there was still a powerful groupthink at work amongst even "experts". She was repeating all the same talking points like "94% effective" from the trials, and I was in the odd position of realizing that in some key ways, she did not know what the fuck she was talking about.
A simple observation suffices to prove a curved earth. Merely stand on the ocean shore and watch a ship sailing over the horizon.
First the masts appear, then the superstructure, and finally the hull of the ship.
That gradual appearance can only be explained by a curved earth.
(And it's also why no sailor nor navigator nor scientist in Christopher Columbus' day believed the earth was flat. The curvature of the earth has been accepted scientific reality since the ancient Greeks--and Aristarchus even computed the size of the spherical earth in approximately 280 BCE).
According to Neil deGrasse Tyson, you wouldn't see the curvature of the Earth from an airplane since he said that even Felix Baumgartner wouldn't have seen it either.
I believe that the human being is much more capable then is generally assumed.
In my current paradigm (model of everything) humans are able to use the zero point field or reality matrix as a communications device. Our gross senses are only one layer of information coming to us. Using the same code for each sense we can encode and decode data from the matrix which can behave like a dimensionless point free of time and space. By intention and some training I and many others have been able to see, hear, smell, taste, touch, and know things in places and times outside the gross senses but that quantum science says is in the Field (everything is).
To me I don’t believe Flat Earth Theory because I have been above and inside the planet and many other places. Just as the human being has a meta program that becomes operational at conception and keeps track of all things “I” and “not I” as well as the flow of information between them tagged with spacetime coordinates everything else has tags that can be read and there is even some level of consciousness in even seemingly unconscious things. Thus, asking Earth about its nature can be trippy…if it’s talking to you and you can hear. It knows where it is, where it’s going, and itself in relation to the “other”.

It was just...strange.

I’ll be back bc I do have some questions
Thanks for link
I came away from my rabbit hole thinking
My God the Earth is flat?
I am still on the fence about that
I love your voice. And you are hilarious.
