There was that period of about a year when I would hear Pretenders songs but always inside a store, or as waiting room music....so I associate it with the person I was seeing at the time, but they were never actually with me when I would hear the Pretenders songs. One ex I would say I associate with Bowie's music but also King Crimson and Laurie Anderson as well. Oingo Boingo and the Residents figured heavily in the listening rotation for another fella from school. Late 80's and 90's. I still tend to think in albums and groups, but the currency these days is in songs and even snippets of songs...
